Positive thinking rules the day.
Seriously. You thought I was just saying that like a catch phrase, metaphor, or inspirational quote that deserves its own photo meme? Well you are probably right about that last thing. I totally need more positive thinking photo memes in my life that I spread all over and “like” on facebook. Who doesn’t need a little extra kick in the enthusiasm pants sometimes?
I have been feeling very positive lately. Especially the last few days. I got off my butt and did some running. I ran again yesterday. I plan to run tomorrow. I am on a friggin’ roll here. I have been riding Grady, getting him fit, and have a new goal to hit a horse show on November 4th (we didn’t make it to the Oct. 13th show because there was a registration deadline I was unaware of, whoops).
I made my own guacamole… from scratch. Not that it’s an accomplishment, it was super easy. But I never really make anything. And I made this.
I went to the Ohio Blogging Association Meet up at Southside in Tremont. My second trip to Southside in a week. I kind of like Tremont. I like living on the west side. What a positive thing. It’s always a plus to like your neighborhood.
I am running marathon #4 is 4 days. Lots of positive thoughts there.
I think I perpetuated this high by reading the 9 Habits of Super Positive People over at one of my favorite blogs, Mark and Angel Hack Life. If you need a daily pick me up, how to be better, get a grip, type website, go ahead and click, you won’t regret it.
What are the 9 Habits of Super Positive People you ask? Well, let me share with you what I learned…
Wake up every morning with the thought that something wonderful is going to happen - I have been rolling out of bed lately with that, “this day is going to suck” feeling, and it can bring down your whole day. I spent a couple weeks feeling sluggish and tired. I am just about 99% sure this was my own doing. I just needed to know that something wonderful was going to happen. When I thought this way, and actually reached out to get it, it seemed to come easier. My day felt lighter. I ran 4 miles. Woot.
Celebrate your existence - If you don’t, who will? Guess what, I am happy to be able to move my feet every day! I am excited to get up and try something new, like a vegan diet.
Appreciate life’s perfect moments - Life is messy, but some moments are just right. I had an interesting convo with a running buddy where we discussed vices. I razzed him for trading one vice for another. But he said, “everyone needs vices, you just need the right one.” Sadly, my vice is shoes. I wish mine wasn’t shoes, I said. My friend’s reply? “We are runners. We all have shoe vices.” It was perfect.
Embrace life’s challenges - When things are hard its easy to pull back. Guilty. I went to my 4th OBA meet up this week. I still nervous and intimidated every time I attend. The people change, the faces are different, not every person can make to every one, so you are bound to be meeting new people. Just take a deep breath and walk in. Smile. Relax.
Become addicted to constant and never-ending self improvement - This is a hard one for me. I struggle with self-acceptance sometimes, I am pretty open about that. So sometimes it’s hard to admit where I need to improve overall, because really, it feels like I need to improve everywhere. Sometimes I feel like I don’t deserve it. But I do! And I have been feeling that in a couple aspects of my life lately and am actively seeking a change to show people what I am made of. I will reach my goals, watch me.
Live and breathe the truth - I have hit a point in my life where I need to go out and meet new people, do new things. And sometimes it’s hard to express to new friends who you really are. Don’t aim to impress, be true. Show people who you really are. And be loved for it.
Fill your own bucket - I can fill my bucket full of shit, or I can fill it full of candy. I prefer candy. How about you? How about starbursts and cherry coke? That sounds way better. I think these days I will fill my bucket with happiness and positive thinking. Life is to short to sit around carrying a bucket of uncertainty. Like, “Will I be able to finish my race on Sunday without dying face down in the mud?” Who cares, run it anyway.
Help the people around you smile - I got an email the other day from a women I met of Craigslist. Yeah, on craigslist. Last year when I wanted to move Grady to a new, safe barn, I posted an ad on Craigslist that I was in need of boarding, not offering boarding. I was surprised at the outpouring of advice and recommendations I received. I met one lady, Paula, who showed me her barn, and though it wasn’t a fit, she continued to refer me to places that may work, and we continue to talk occasionally today. She emailed me that she started running, but was struggling with boredom, mile building, and fatigue. And asked if I could help. Well, I am a runner, and it is my dream to coach others to their goals, so I gave her some tips that might help. She was so happy and appreciative to get to talk to someone who understands, she is going to try and run the Turkey Trot this year. I love that I made her happy and excited about running again.
Spend time with positive people – “Life’s way too awesome to waste time with people who don’t treat you right.” The right people will pick you up where you are down, make you smile, never take advantage, they genuinely care. “Everyone else is just passing through.”
